My First Birchbox!

Guess what arrived in the mail today! My very first Birchbox!

After being told about Birchbox by my mom, good friend Margaret, and reading about it on every blog ever written, I took the plunge and signed up for Birchbox last month. And boy am I glad I did.

The first thing I love is the packaging that it came in. The box they mail it in is bright pink and pretty and when you open it up its a cute cardboard box with ‘Birchbox’ embossed on it.

Then when you open up that box there is pink and purple tissue paper covering all of the products. So here’s a breakdown of what’s inside!

The first thing I noticed is a Larabar.

I’ve had Larabars in the past, they’re known for being all natural, fair trade, and are typically fruit and nut bars. This bar is peanut butter chocolate chip and I’m probably going to munch on it during our flight to LA tomorrow.

Next up is a VMV Hypoallergenics Eye Serum anti-age target treatment.

I’ve never really used a serum before and I don’t own any anti-aging products, but I’ve read a thousand times that you need to start before you actually see signs of aging, so this will be a good introduction into the I’m-getting-old world.

And to be honest, I don’t really know how to use serums. After you wash your face? Before bed or during the day? Do you omit face lotion where you apply the serum? I’ll be doing some research here.

This Zoya nail polish in color Megan looks fun.

I love nail polish and have never tried Zoya before, so I’m excited to try a new brand.

Doesn’t this color look exactly like the one I’m currently wearing? The one on my nails now is OPI’s Moons Over Mumbai.

This little square below is actually a sample of the Juicy Couture Perfume.

I’m always a fan of new perfumes and this is a nice light scent that will find its way into my travel toiletries bag.

Last up in my little Birchbox is a Befine Night Cream.

It’s made with cocoa, millet and rice bran and is not at all oily. It’s not as thick of a cream as I normally like since I have very dry skin, but it’s great as a sample and comes at the perfect time since I just finished up my travel face lotion on our last trip.

And the very last thing at the very bottom of the box is a little poster with what they called Mini Detoxes with words of inspiration that I totally agree we should all live by.

My favorite is the detox for your mind: “Turn off your computer, iPhone, or Blackberry one hour before bed. You’ll sleep soundly and wake up sunny, not stressed.”

I totally need to do that more.

So that’s my very first January 2012 Birchbox! It really is so fun to receive stuff in the mail other than bills and junkmail so this will brighten up my month a little bit more. :)

Did you receive a Birchbox this month? Is your stuff similar or different? Let me know what you got in the comments section and if you wrote a post about your January 2012 Birchbox, leave the link so I can check it out!
